Slõ Drinks are now available in mixed boxes. Clinicians and patients have been continually asking if we can make mixed boxes of Slõ Drinks and we have always said no. Sorry about that. We forgot to listen and hear what’s needed. Thankfully in this Monday’s meeting, Duncan saw the light and suggested that everyone likes a variety of drinks in the...
Christmas drinks for those with dysphagia
27 October 2015
At Christmas…more than any other time of the year, most people want to enjoy a glass of wine, beer, a whisky or a drop of bubbly. That includes those with dysphagia. But the thought of having thickened alcoholic drinks puts them off. It’s partly because they look and taste terrible – but mostly it’s the embarrassment of people seeing thickener...
Are slightly thick drinks the answer to dehydrated dysphagia patients?
26 October 2015
Research suggests that thickened drinks cause dehydration because they are thick? A lot of the time they are too thick and those with dysphagia don’t like the feel of them or the residue they leave in the mouth. They also make the drinker feel bloated. We think that is just one issue – but for the sake of discussion let’s say that is the only one. Could...

The stress free alternative to thickened drinks is 10 today. It’s our Birthday and I wanted to share it with you. 10 years ago the idea of Slõ Drinks became a reality and Slõ Drinks Ltd was incorporated. It was founded on a chance conversation I had with a Speech Therapist walking out of a ward. Asking her what she would like for her patients with...
How to keep dysphagia patients hydrated
16 October 2015
There has been lots of work done on why it’s difficult to keep dysphagia patients hydrated. Other research...

To reimburse tins of thickener bought to make thickened drinks, many use the HCPCS Code B4100 – Food Thickener administered orally, per ounce. The great news is Slõ Drinks sachets can be described the same way!  Consequently, B4100 can be used claim re-imbursement for Slõ Drinks. 02 September 2015
Here, a Speech Therapist from The Life Foundation, shares her experiences from visiting Romania to teach care routines.   “Although I had prepared myself, the conditions that people were living in were truly shocking. Consequently, we looked for a new thickener that would...

Fizzy Drinks for Dysphagia are great. Well that’s what I thought. I had no evidence for it. It just seemed logical. Fortunately, just this week I discovered two pieces of independent research that supports this idea: Fizzy drinks by their nature have an extra dimension.
